One Direction - One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks)

Oh One Direction needs no introduction, so I would step away from my own infatuation.
By the way have I ever mentioned that I love them??

*twitter followers roll their eyes*

Pictures taken from here

Although some good friend of mine says I have a bad conscience, One Direction is actually, in most people (age range 10-22 y.o)'s point of view, kinda cute and their singles are karaoke-able. Times have passed quickly from the nineties for now boybands are all younger than me. By the way, One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks) is their effort to mash up Blondie and The Undertone's hit single for charity which sounds very fresh and undeniably fun. The lyrics itself is about stalking, some people would say it's inappropriate but I say "hellooooo!!". Surprisingly, all members' vocals in this song are quite good, including my toyboy, Louis. As a self-claimed objective fangirl, they may not consist of remarkable singers, only two or three guys sing and others just go 'ooh ooh' but most boybands are that way though. Besides, when you're this adorable you'll be completely forgiven (I am looking at you, Louis Tomlison)

It's sad knowing that Louis and I were only born two months away but I'm already married and not walking barefooted on the beach with him, talking about our last graduation and where we will be heading to.

Here's the video...

Anyway few months ago I despise Grammy Awards for nominating Carly Rae Japsen in Best New Artist category. What the heck? Clearly these guys can sing more favorably than her! Grammy has been unfair to all British boybands and I mean for years!

Video Games - Lana Del Rey

Swinging in the backyard
Pull up in your fast car
Whistling my name
Open up a beer
And you say, "Get over here
And play a video game."

I'm in his favorite sun dress
Watching me get undressed
Take that body downtown
I say, "You the bestest."
Lean in for a big kiss
Put his favorite perfume on

Go play a video game

It's you, it's you, it's all for you
Everything I do
I tell you all the time
Heaven is a place on earth with you
Tell me all the things you want to do
I heard that you like the bad girls
Honey, is that true?
It's better than I ever even knew
They say that the world was built for two
Only worth living if somebody is loving you
Baby, now you do

Singing in the old bars
Swinging with the old stars
Living for the fame
Kissing in the blue dark
Playing pool and wild darts
Video games

He holds me in his big arms
Drunk and I am seeing stars
This is all I think of
Watching all our friends fall
In and out of Old Paul's
This is my idea of fun
Playing video games

It's you, it's you, it's all for you
Everything I do
I tell you all the time
Heaven is a place on earth with you
Tell me all the things you want to do
I heard that you like the bad girls
Honey, is that true?
It's better than I ever even knew
They say that the world was built for two
Only worth living if somebody is loving you
Baby, now you do

First of all, it's not even a new song and Lana Del Rey has been in music industry since 2005. I first listened to this song quite some time ago, not long after Born to Die (the album) was released but I didn't pay that much attention - honestly until the past week. I only managed to catch Video Games, Blue Jeans, and Born to Die (the song) - maybe because I am particularly interested in anything sung in husky lower voice and gloomy/apocalypse ambience, but for the past week, Video Games haunts me the most.

It may happen because of how strangely engrossing melodies that she renders. This song depicts female vulnerability and naivete that make you almost weep, unapologetically delicate tale of infatuation that closely wraps her sadness and desperation. I am not sure contentment is what she feels at the moment, as the boyfriend here looks incapacitated and insolent (let's see, this guy doesn't even pay attention to details as much as she does), but she nonetheless keeps on clinging.

It's like a hidden depression of what looks like regular dating - and it makes you kinda sad. Intimidating and sad. Lana Del Rey indeed does a very good job to meticulously interpret her emotions.

Of course I didn't post this in SongMeanings because it will be so lame.

This kind of emotional love song has always been my weak points. *wiping tears* *hoekk*

i was a teenage anarchist..... (no, it's a title of the song)

I WAS A TEENAGE ANARCHIST
by AGAINST ME!
I was a teenage anarchist
Looking for a revolution
I had the style, I had the ambition
Read all the authors
I knew the right slogans
There was no war but the class war
I was ready to set the world on fire
I was a teenage anarchist
Looking for a revolution

Do you remember when you were young
And you wanted to set the world on fire
Do you remember when you were young
And you wanted to set the world on fire

I was a teenage anarchist
But the politics were too convenient
In the depths of their humanity
All I saw was bloodless ideology
With freedom as their doctrine
Guess who was the new authority
I was a teenage anarchist
But the politics were too convenient

Do you remember when you were young
And you wanted to set the world on fire
Do you remember when you were young
And you wanted to set the world on fire
When you were young
And you wanted to set the world on fire

I was a teenage anarchist
But then the scene got too rigid
It was mob mentality
They set their rifle sights on me
Narrow visions of autonomy
You want me to surrender my identity
I was a teenage anarchist
The revolution was lie

Do you remember when you were young
And you wanted to set the world on fire
Do you remember when you were young
And you wanted to set the world on fire
When you were young
And you wanted to set the world the fire
When you were young
And you wanted to set the world the fire

I was a teenage anarchist
I was a teenage anarchist
I was a teenage anarchist
I was a teenage anarchist

i'm working for Government's ministry.. a civil servant for sure and every end of year i'll be busier than i've ever been. that could be one out of many reasons i can give to answer why my blog has been this way, no longer updated. of course the reason number 1 is i have no idea what to write, life's been boring lately.. piles of works, papers, hoahm.

sometimes when i had time to think over my old days, i'll ask the same damn question.. what would i be if i didn't choose the path I chose? what would i pursue since i didn't really have any skills to be proud of? i know it just doesn't matter in the end, but lately, when i have to work on a paper i tend to arrange playlists to boost my mood, and that's when this video comes up playing and reminds me of my youth.

I Was A Teenage Anarchist by Against Me!, pretty much as the lyrics abovementioned, tells you about how your life has changed, from who you used to be to who you are now. it's like a nostalgic recall. some people said it was about Tom Gabel (the frontman)'s relationship with his music.. if you really listened to his previous materials, you'll recognize how significant the changes are. now they said he has abandoned his punk rock and indie roots ever since he signed to major label - ah, major label, why do they have to bother it so much? - I listen to Against Me! before they were big and I think their major album isn't that bad, yeah they've changed and maybe they want to broaden the horizons. it hurts seeing comments from those "fuck you! now you are consumers, not revolutionaries!"

but really, changes aren't all meant for something bad. in fact, that's the signal that you are growing up. i mean, you really think you are exactly the same person you were 10 years ago? are you sure you really want to start or be a part of revolution, or you're just a poser whose brain was fed by scenes, left-political opinions, issues, and conspiracy theories?

we are growing up. we have done a lot of things, we have learnt new ideologies, ideas, met a lot of people, and we are getting older, wiser, and smarter. I was familiar with stuffs like anti flag, the clash, against me, reading socialism zines, they taught me about capitalism, injustice, corrupted nations, and really.. have i told you for whom i am working for? well, i know it's contradictory listening to Anti-Flag's One Trillion Dollars when you are doing fiscal policies.. but really, why regret for being who you are right now? move on, it's not like the world has stopped and you can do nothing about it.
